Wayne was a member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) on a national, state, and local level and established the ISU student chapter. He was instrumental in establishing and promoting NAHB scholarships for members of the student chapter and student travel funds that offered students the occasion to attend the NAHB national convention.
Wayne motivated his students and encouraged them to explore the opportunities available in the construction industry. He believed that the construction industry was a profession in which hardworking, motivated, and innovative individuals could prosper. The industry offers, he said, the opportunity for entrepreneurial success. The Wayne H. Zook Scholarship has been established by Wayne's family and friends to reward hard-working and motivated students, to encourage them to embark on a career in the construction industry, and to perpetuate Wayne's efforts and accomplishments.
