SIGNIFICANT RESEARCH PROJECTS

  • 1997-1999 Curriculum, instructional materials, and faculty enhancement for advanced technology education initiatives focusing on competency gaps in engineering and technological education. (Funded by the National Science Foundation. Grant # 9752083 Amount: $450,000
  • 1998-2001 Inquis Logic, XL Global Services, Microsoft, IBM, and The Deragon Group -Defined the domain of emerging enterprise-wide risk management concepts. Participated in an insurance industry sponsored $15 million dollar research and development initiative to define future competitiveness strategies for U.S. business and industries. Key points of this research included:
    • assessing the educational needs of professional risk managers
    • assessing the analytics and tools needed by professional risk managers
    • defining a new competitive environment for enterprise-wide risk management,
    • defining a taxonomy of business risks as related to business processes and activities,
    • developing a commercial web site for professional risk managers and senior managers
    • developing industry specific web sites for professional risk managers
  • 1990-1996 Agility Forum - One of three educators invited to participate in an Industry-driven, $42 million dollar Department of Defense sponsored research initiative to define future competitiveness strategies for U.S. business and industries. Key points of this research included:
    • defining a new competitive environment for industrial products and services,
    • defining agility and an organizations ability to respond rapidly to demand for high quality, highly customized products,
    • assessing flexible management structures that can stimulate cooperative initiatives within and between firms,
    • development of implementation strategies to lead the transition to the new agile “system.”
