T

ransfer students are students who are transferring to Illinois State University from another college or university.

Students who are or will be attending another college or university before transferring should contact the advisor for advice on which classes would be most beneficial to the student upon transferring to Illinois State University. The student does not have to finish a degree before transferring to Illinois State University.

Once students have been accepted to Illinois State University, they will be invited to the Transfer Registration Program to register for their classes. If you are a late admission to Illinois State University you need to schedule an appointment with the advisor to register.

Associates of Science or Associates of Arts Transfers

If students with either an A.S. or A.A. degree have applied to be a Technology major, they may begin taking classes that fulfill their major requirements. An individual plan of study should be completed with the advisor upon transferring to Illinois State University.

Associates of Applied Science Transfers

Those students with an A.A.S. degree need to complete Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) general education requirements. Students can find out what classes they still need to take at their current school with the IAI Web site.

Students also have to complete any major requirements that are not substituted by classes taken elsewhere, and they have to complete senior hours. Students should make an appointment with the advisor for more information about the exact classes needed to complete the bachelor's degree.

General Information for Transfer Students

Transfer students entering Illinois State University will be required to complete the requirements in the catalog under which they have been admitted. The undergraduate and graduate catalogs can be accessed online. Each semester students will need to check ICampus for their registration day and time. The student should make an appointment with the advisor, if needed, to review his or her academic progress prior to registering.
