Department of Technology at Illinois State University

T

he Training and Development Certificate involves study and application of the theories and methods used in the development of contemporary industrial training and technical education curricula, identifying training objectives, implementing effective industrial training programs, analysis and evaluation of industrial training workshops and programs using process and product evaluations.

Training is a growing profession in industry but often does not require a graduate degree as credential for performing this important role. This certificate can allow the development of credentials and enhanced expertise for those attempting to become trainers in industry without the necessity of completing the degree.

Course content was identified through analysis of American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and International Board of Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction (IBSTPI) standards and recommendations and is consistent with those recommendations and standards.

Required Courses:

  • TEC 406 - Instructional Program Design for Industrial Training, (Fall course).
  • TEC 407 - Instructional Program Development for Industrial Training, (Spring course).
  • TEC 408 - Instructional Program Implementation and Evaluation for Industrial Training (Spring course).

To learn more about each course, the prerequisites, and any additional degree requirements, we suggest going to the Graduate Catalog.
