The certificates are not a degree program, although courses completed as part of the certificate curriculum could be used in meeting degree requirements, where appropriate.
The Department of Technology offers two graduate level certificates: one in Training and Development and one in Project Management. Each graduate certificate requires three specific courses totaling nine credit hours. Courses completed as a portion of the certificate program may also be counted toward the requirements of the Master of Science in Technology degree.
The Department of Technology graduate coordinator will advise students and confirm completion of certificate requirements.
To be admitted, you must have an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or a 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework. Program applicants with GPA's lower than 2.8 overall or 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work must submit their scores of the General Test of the GRE to be considered for probationary program admission. At least two letters of recommendation attesting to your professional accomplishments and contributions and leadership potential must be submitted. Please visit the Graduate School Web site for an application form.
We recommend international student visit the Graduate School page for additional information.
After admittance to a non-degree graduate certificate program, the student should complete the Plan of Study for the certificate.
In order to be awarded the certificate, all required courses must be completed with a "B" or better. All certificate required coursework must be completed in the Department of Technology at Illinois State University.
All requirements for a graduate level certificate must be completed within six calendar years, beginning with the date the student first registers as a graduate level certificate student.
