Turner Hall 101 serves as the primary classroom and laboratory for classes in materials and methods, surveying, soils and foundations, and mechanical systems. Technology intensive courses, such as estimating, scheduling, and project management, make use of the latest industry specific software on over 150 computer workstations maintained by the department. A small computer lab dedicated to Construction Management is located adjacent to Turner 101 and is available for individual or team projects. During summer 2005, the furniture in Turner 101 was replaced with new chairs and 30-inch tables to better accommodate construction drawings. Also, a new 520-square-foot soils and concrete testing laboratory was added.
Students in entry-level methods courses may also gain hands-on experience by working on Habitat for Humanity projects. The dynamic economy of Central Illinois and the Chicago area provides ongoing opportunities for internships, field trips, independent study, and practical work experience.
